What is SMARTmedcheck?

SMARTmedcheck gives patients one place to check what to do if their symptoms change. They search for a symptom or browse by area, and every condition page sets out when to call 999, when to contact their GP practice, and how to look after themselves at home.

Content is sourced from NHS.uk and reviewed by GP clinicians. Each page shows its NHS source and links to the full NHS guidance, which is kept up to date by the NHS.

Every page starts with the same check: feeling worse than before? If any of the emergency symptoms apply now, patients are told to follow that action, even if they have seen a clinician recently.

How every condition page works
